New Stamp Sets!

By Trisha's Tidbits | Aug 14, 2009

Well, I’m finally posting my cards I made with the new Stampin’ Up stamp sets! It feels like ages ago that I ordered them. Finally, I got to ink them up and now post! Sometimes you just wonder, where does the time go? I remember I was so excited when I ordered these during the SU preorder. Then when Mr. Brown dropped them off, my mind was completely somewhere else and my poor stamp sets got neglected! But, here they are now…

I made this card for a wedding back in June.

And, this birthday card for a good friend.

I love both of these new sets and am happy that I got the chance to share them!

Happy Mother’s Day!

By Trisha's Tidbits | May 9, 2009

I just wanted to wish all the mothers out there a very Happy Mother’s Day! I know I’m a day early, but I’m flying out overseas to Hong Kong tomorrow. I’m happy to be spending Mother’s Day with my mom this year on a family trip!

I have several special people that I send cards to on Mother’s Day and I made these:

I used the Raspberry Tart Stampin’ Up DS Paper for this card and a Mother’s Day stamp I got from the Michaels $1 bin. I embossed the Mother’s Day sentiment with black EP and colored in the flowers with Copic Markers. I also used one of my Cuttlebug Embossing folders on the white strip, although it’s hard to see in the picture. And, I guess my vision was blurry when I took this picture because I didn’t realize that only one of cards was in focus until I saw a larger version of it on my computer screen!

Happy Mother’s Day wishes and see you when I get back!

Hello Again.

By Trisha's Tidbits | May 6, 2009

My blogging break was longer than expected, but I’m glad to be back!  I’m recovered from a trip to Paris and lots of other usual busy things from life.  Today, I have a birthday card to share that I made for one of friends.

I used this yummy Stampin’ Up Darling Dots hostess stamp set. I used the SU markers to ink up the individual parts of the cupcakes to match the color combo from the Flamingo DS paper line.

As for Paris, it was beautiful, and I had a wonderful time. I got to see the Eiffel Tower by day and night, go on a boat ride on the Seine River, visit the Moulin Rouge, admire the pretty flowers, have gelato shaped like a flower, and even visit a Le Temple du Scrap! The trip was amazing and I can’t wait to visit again some day. I was also especially excited to be able to practice my photography skills with my D70 camera. Here are some of my favorite shots:

A Birthday Card and Pink Paislee

By Trisha's Tidbits | Apr 9, 2009

Hi all! Here’s a quick card I made over the weekend. This one is with the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I used an In Color combo: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, and Pacific Point. I wanted to add a little texture to the panel with the stamped image so I used a stipple brush to tap Kiwi Kiss on it. I love using the stipple brush because it adds such a subtle flair. And, for some extra dimension, I cut out a few flowers and stuck them on with dimensionals. I made this card for my MIL, so I hope she likes it!

And some exciting news for me, I won this scrapbooking kit from Pink Paislee! They had a blog hop last week with this prize up for grabs and I won it from Mara-May’s blog. I couldn’t believe I won, but very happy that I did!

I won’t have internet access starting tomorrow until the end of next week so I’ll be taking a short blogging break. See you when I get back!

Birthday Celebrations

By Trisha's Tidbits | Mar 16, 2009

The Upsy Daisy set that I used to make this card is one didn’t necessarily caught my eye when I first saw it, but completely grew on me. Now I totally love it! I saw a sample of the shadowing technique I used on this card and had to try it for myself. In order to do this successfully, the Stamp-a-ma-jig is necessary.

First, I stamped the main flower image in Riding Hood Red. Next, I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the stamp the image over and slightly below the image in Riding Hood Red and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. This technique is simple and creates a nice effect for the eye.

The color combo for this card is Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, & Kiwi Kiss. I also used the Top Note Sizzix Bigz Die, the Three Flower Punch, Chocolate Chip grossgrain ribbon, and a rhinestone for some bling. The background stamp is Bella Toile.

Thanks for checking in and I hope you have a Happy Monday!

Bridal Shower & Wedding Cards

By Trisha's Tidbits | Mar 14, 2009

My friend recently got married and here are the cards I made for her Bridal Shower and wedding. I made the cards to match her wedding colors which were blue & brown. The first card was for her Bridal Shower card, which I made from the “Always” & “Fundamental Phrases” SU stamp sets. I also used my Cuttlebug Divine Swirl Embossing Folder on Bashful Blue and layered it on Whisper White and Chocolate Stardream paper punched with the Fisksars Scallop Edge Punch. It might be hard to see in this pic, but I stamped the heart images twice on Whisper White and trimmed the inside heart and mounted it on dimensionals above the larger heart.

For her wedding card, I decided to dust off my Cricut machine and take it for a spin. I used the “Alphalicious” font cartridge to cut out the “Best Wishes” sentiment. I cut out 2 daisies in each size of each color with the Flower, Daisies #2 Sizzix Bigz die and layered them top of each other to create a textured look. The dimensions of this card are 5″ x 7″, which is a little bigger than the standard A2. It was fun making this card because I made it mainly using die cuts instead of the usual stamping.

I really enjoy making customized cards for my friends and family on their special days! It’s the perfect way to give a special gift and for me to expand my creativity at the same time!

Dahlia Fold Card

By Trisha's Tidbits | Mar 11, 2009

I love the look of the dahlia fold. It’s pretty easy to fold, but creates a very intricate look. The Designer Series paper I used for this card is from the new “Flamingo” set.

I used the “Congrats” Sale-A-Bration stamp set from Stampin’ Up for my sentiment. My color combo is Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, & Yo-Yo Yellow. Other accessories are the: Whimsy Jumbo wheel (background), Ticket Corner Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Mini Brads, and of course, Dimensionals. (Would any card be complete without Dimensionals?)

If you feel inspired today, why don’t you try to make your own dahlia fold card?
